26. 1. 1.

1. Cakkhu Ý The Eye

1. I heard thus. At one time the Blessed One was living in the monastery offered by Anathapindika in Jeta's grove in Savatthi.

2. The Blessed One addressed the monks from there:

3-8. ßMonks, whatever interest and greed for eye ... ear ... nose ... tongue ... body ... mind is minor defilement of the mind.

9. ßMonks, when the minor defilements in these six instances are dispelled from the monk's mind, it turns to renounce, and well-developed in renunciation seems workable for the realization of higher knowledge.û

2. Råpaü Ý Forms

1. I heard thus. At one time the Blessed One was living in the monastery offered by Anàthapiõóika in Jeta's grove in Sàvatthi.

2. The Blessed One addressed the monks from there:

3-8. ßMonks, whatever interest and greed for forms ... sounds ... scents ... tastes ... touches ... ideas is minor defilement of the mind.

9. ßMonks, when the minor defilements in these six instances are dispelled from the monk's mind, it turns to renounce and well-developed in renunciation seems workable for the realization of higher knowledge.û



26. 1. 3.

3. Vi¤¤ànam Ý Consciousness

1. I heard thus. At one time the Blessed One was living in the monastery offered by Anàthapiõóika in Jeta's grove in Sàvatthi.

2. The Blessed One addressed the monks from there:

3-8. ßMonks, whatever interest and greed for eye-consciousness ... ear-consciousness ... nose-consciousness ... tongue-consciousness ... body-consciousness ... mind-consciousness is minor defilement of the mind.

9. ßMonks, when the minor defilements in these six instances are dispelled from the monk's mind, it turns to renounce and well-developed in renunciation seems workable for the realization of higher knowledge.û



26. 1. 4.

4. Phasso Ý Contact

1. I heard thus. At one time the Blessed One was living in the monastery offered by Anàthapiõóika in Jeta's grove in Sàvatthi.

2. The Blessed One addressed the monks from there:

3. ßMonks, whatever interest and greed for eye-contact is minor defilement of the mind.

4-8. ßMonks, whatever interest and greed for ear-contact, nose-contact, tongue-contact, body-contact, and mind-contact is minor defilement of the mind.

9. ßMonks, when the minor defilements in these six instances are dispelled from the monk's mind, it turns to renounce and well-developed in renunciation seems workable for the realization of higher knowledge.û

5. Vedanaya Ý Feelings

1. I heard thus. At one time the Blessed One was living in the monastery offered by Anàthapiõóika in Jeta's grove in Sàvatthi.

2. The Blessed One addressed the monks from there:

3. ßMonks, whatever interest and greed for feelings born from eye-contact is minor defilement of the mind.

4-8. ßMonks, whatever interest and greed for feelings born from ear-contact, feelings born from nose-contact, feelings born from tongue-contact, feelings born from body-contact, and feelings born from mind-contact is minor defilement of the mind.

9. ßMonks, when the minor defilements in these six instances are dispelled from the monk's mind, it turns to renounce and well-developed in renunciation seems workable for the realization of higher knowledge.û



26. 1. 6.

6. Sa¤¤aya Perceptions

1-3. Sàvatthi repeat. ßMonks, whatever interest and greed for perceptions of form is minor defilement of the mind.

4-8. ßMonks, whatever interest and greed for perception of sounds, perception of scents, perception of tastes, perception of touches and perception of ideas is minor defilement of the mind.

9. ßMonks, when the minor defilements in these six instances are dispelled from the monk's mind, it turns to renounce and well-developed in renunciation seems workable for the realization of higher knowledge.û



26. 1. 7.

7. Cetana Ý Intentions

1-2. Sàvatthi repeat.

3. ßMonks, whatever interest and greed for intentions of forms is minor defilement of the mind.

4-8. ßMonks, whatever interest and greed for intentions of sounds, intentions of scents, intentions of tastes, intentions of touches, and intentions of ideas is minor defilement of the mind.

9. ßMonks, when the minor defilements in these six instances are dispelled from the monk's mind, it turns to renounce, well-developed in renunciation and seems workable for the realization of higher knowledge.û



26. 1. 8.

8. Taõhà Ý Craving

1-3. Sàvatthi repeat. ßMonks, whatever interest and greed craving for forms is minor defilement of the mind.

4-8. ßMonks, whatever interest and greed craving for sounds, craving for scents, craving for tastes craving for touches, craving for ideas is minor defilement of the mind.

9. ßMonks, when the minor defilements in these six instances are dispelled from the monk's mind, it turns to renounce, well-developed in renunciation and seems workable for the realization of higher knowledge.û



26. 1. 9.

9. Dhàtu Ý Elements

1-3. Sàvatthi repeat. ßMonks, whatever interest and greed for the earth element is minor defilement of the mind.

4-8. ßMonks, whatever interest and greed for the water element, the fire element, the air element, the space element, and for the conscious element is minor defilement of the mind.

9. ßMonks, when the minor defilements in these six instances are dispelled from the monk's mind, it turns to renounce and well-developed in renunciation seems workable for the realization of higher knowledge.û



26. 1. 10.

10. Khandena Ý With the Masses

4-8. ßMonks, whatever interest and greed for matter, for feelings, for perceptions, for intentions, for conscious is minor defilement of the mind.

9. ßMonks, when the minor defilements in these six instances are dispelled from the monk's mind, it turns to renounce and well-developed in renunciation seems workable for the realization of higher knowledge.û
