The Great Chronicle of The Buddhas
by Tipitakadhara Mingun Sayadaw

Twelfth Patihàriya, and so on.
(12) At one point, five hundred ascetics like to hold a ceremony
worship of fire, they tried to chop wood but not
able to do so, they think, "our inability
for splitting the wood must be caused by supernatural powers of
these monks. "
When Uruvela-Kassapa report this to the Buddha,
Buddha asked, "O Kassapa, are you want the wood to
split? "And Uruvela-Kassapa replied," O Bhikkhu, we want the
woods are split. "With the magical power of the Buddha, five hundred
woods were split into pieces simultaneously. Then
again Uruvela-Kassapa thought:
"This Bhikkhu capable of splitting the woods at once that are
can't be done by my students. This Bhikkhu must have been very
powerful. But although he is very powerful, he has not become Arahanta
like me with àsava have dried up. "

(13) At other times, five hundred ascetics can not turn on
fire for fire worship ceremony even though they have been
tried various ways. They think, "our inability
to light a fire must have been caused by magic monk
these. "
When Uruvela-Kassapa report this to the Buddha, Buddha
asked, "O Kassapa, whether you want the fires were lit?"
and Uruvela-Kassapa replied, "O monks, we want to fire-fire
lit. "With the magical power of Buddha, five hundred fires
large blazing simultaneously. Then again
Uruvela-Kassapa thought:
"The monk is able to turn five hundred big bonfire
simultaneously that can not be done by my students.
These monks must be very powerful. But although he is very powerful,
He has not become like me with àsava Arahanta have
dried up. "
(14) At another time, five hundred ascetics can not
extinguish the fire after the completion of the fire worship ceremony.
They think, "our inability to extinguish the fire
must be caused by supernatural powers monk. "
When Uruvela-Kassapa report this to the Buddha, Buddha
asked, "O Kassapa, whether you want a fire-the fire was extinguished?"
and Uruvela-Kassapa replied, "O monks, we want to fire-fire
outages. "With the magical power of the Buddha, five hundred large bonfire
the blazing immediately extinguished simultaneously.
Then, again Uruvela-Kassapa thought:
"The monk was able to extinguish five hundred big bonfire
simultaneously that can not be extinguished by his
my students. These monks must be very powerful. But although he is very
magic, he has not become like me with àsava Arahanta have
dried up. "

(15) At another time, five hundred ascetics went into the River
Neranjarà during winter nights (called antaratthaka)
when it rains and heavy snow when the weather has become
very cool. Some ascetics believe that "with out
of water one time, all evil deeds can be cleaned, "up
back to the river after leaving the water (after soaking
his whole body in water). (Many of those who believe
that trust. They bathe because there is no escaping
of water without soaking in water beforehand). Some of the hermit
believe that "by soaking one time, one act
evil can be cleaned "plunge into the water one time with the head
under the water and climb back into the river, soon after they
out of the water. (Few believe this).
Some ascetics believe that "if the bath by means
rise and sink again and again, evil deeds
will be cleaned, "bathing in the river, rising and sinking
repeatedly. (Many believe this belief).
Buddha created five hundred furnaces. Hermits warm
their bodies in front of the fireplace when out of water.
Five hundred recluses are thinking, "Five hundred of this furnace must
created by magic monk. "Then, again
Uruvela-Kassapa thought:
"This monk is able to create five hundred furnaces. Bhikkhu
This must be very powerful. But although he is very powerful, he has not
be like me with àsava Arahanta which has dried up. "
(16) One day, it rained very heavily, though not
Uruvela rainy season in the Forest, where the Buddha dwells; water
torrential flows continuously without stopping. Place in
where the Buddhas once stood is a low lying so easy
affected by flooding. At that time, the Buddha thought, "Better I
block the flow of water around me and was pacing back and forth
on land surrounded by water and covered with dust; "
so, he dispels the flow of water around him and

pacing up and down on the ground surrounded by water and
covered by thick dust.
At that time, Uruvela-Kassapa, intend, "May The monk
not carried away by water currents and drift, "paddling a boat
along with some sage to the Buddha. With amazement,
he saw a stream of water dislodges and Buddha was walking up and
forth on the ground surrounded by water and covered with dust
thick. Not believing what he saw, he asked, "O, Brother!
Is it you're walking up and down on the ground
surrounded by water and covered by thick dust? "Buddha
replied, "Yes, O Kassapa!, this I am." Then he flew up
into space to see the hermit and then fell on top
their boat, then again Uruvela-Kassapa thought:
"Even ar us fast-flowing water is unable to
These monks away. These monks must be very powerful. Yet
although he is very powerful, he has not become like me Arahanta
with àsava which has dried up. "

Although the Buddha has shown the magic is not exposed
floods, the sage still think bad as before that
he is Arahanta that does not have àsava, Buddha is not
a Arahanta with àsava had vanished. When he thinks

"(Should I keep ignoring him) these arrogant people
(Uruvela-Kassapa), which is very far from the road and fruit are
will continue to view one of up to a very long time:

This monk was very powerful, but he still has not Arahanta
àsava like to have dried up. What if I
gives him a deep religious feeling. "
After considering this, the Buddha forthright
speaks to Uruvela-Kassapa following three sentences:
"O Kassapa, (1) you are not Arahanta with àsava have
disappeared, (2) you are not a person who has reached Arahatta-
Magga, (3) (Never mind the achievement of such), you even

and after that five hundred of your students can do whatever

Buddha Sutta âdittapariyàya
Having resided in Uruvela during the time he needed to
freed the hermit brothers and a thousand followers,
Buddha's journey towards Gayàsisa, where there are
flat stone (looks like an elephant's forehead) near the village style, accompanied by
by a thousand monks who used to be ascetics. Buddha
sitting on a rock flat together with a thousand
monk.
Once seated, the Buddha considered, "Preaching what
according to this monk a thousand? "Then he decided,
"These people have worshiped fire every day, day and night; if
I convey âdittapariyàya Sutta describes
twelve gates of sense (ayatana) are constantly burning,
by eleven fire, they can achieve Arahatta-Phala. "
After that decision, the Buddha delivered
âdittapariyàya Sutta which describes in detail how
six sense doors, the six sense objects, six forms of consciousness,
six forms of contact, eighteen kinds of feelings that arise
through contact (phassa paccaya vedana) burned by the fire of lust
(Raga), the fire of hatred (dosa), the fire of ignorance (moha), fire-born,
old age, and death, sorrow, regret, pain, grief,
and despair.
When the Buddha delivered this sermon, a thousand monks
achieve knowledge of The Four Way in a row and
become Arahanta with àsava extinguished. Thus,
mind of a thousand monks total freed from àsava have
extinguished and can not come back because they (the
bhikkhus) have been totally eliminate the attachment because
clinging (tanha) and wrong view (ditthi) against
everything as 'This is me, this is mine.' They were freed
total from àsava which reached the final by not born again.
