Tathagata descent from the jewel road in the sky near the city
Kapilavatthu after conquering pride and
arrogant of royal relatives by giving
sermons about Buddhavamsa and sit in the 'Throne of Dhamma'
which has been prepared for him.
All members of the royal family had gathered in front
of Buddha, sitting quietly; then it rained lotus leaf,
pokkharavassa, which went down swiftly.
When the heavy rain came down, also fall red rain water
pomegranate swiftly to the ground; when it rains, the water

soaking those who do not want to get wet.
All members of the royal family was amazed and astonished

"O wonderful things that worthy of praise with the flick
finger! This phenomenon has never happened, right? Hear
that words, the Buddha said: "This is not the first time
rain of 'pokkharavasa' down at the confluence of the royal family; there
are other events in the past when it rains like this. "

Buddha then continued the story of Vessantara
thousand verse poem.
After hearing the story Vessantara, the whole family
leave the kingdom; no one who filed
invitations like "please come and receive food fund
we will dedicate tomorrow, "the Buddha.

When the Buddha set foot in the gate Kapilavatthu,
He pondered how the previous Buddhas
go to collect alms in the capital of the kingdom
Those fathers: whether to accept alms from
homes of the rich, or by visiting from door
to the door, do not distinguish between rich or poor? He did
this with his inner strength that gives the knowledge
about past lives, pubbenivàsa Abhinnà. Then He
knowing that none of the Buddhas in the past
who receive funding only foods from the houses of the rich
only; none of which deviate from the tradition of collecting
alms from door to door. So he decided to
adopted the tradition, namely to collect alms

from door to door. He thought: only by example,
My students will collect alms at every
home without exception. After making these decisions, he began
raise food starts at home first
closest to the gate of the city, stopping at each house one
after another.
